As we age, our skin slowly loses firmness and elasticity over time. The culprit is collagen. Collagen is one of the proteins that’s responsible for youthful skin and we tend to lose our collagen supply as we age.
Microneedling (also known as collagen therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment that rejuvenates and improves elasticity in your skin. A device with fine needles generates tiny “micro-injuries” or channels in the top layer of the skin. This invites the body to create new collagen and elastin. You might notice improved texture, firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size and stretch marks.
At Salonika Medspa, you’ll relax in our inviting space while our dermatology team tailors your microneedling treatment for you. We’re looking forward to seeing you!

what to expect
Before you come in for microneedling, we recommend cleansing your skin and removing your makeup prior to your treatment.
When you arrive, we will cleanse and prep your skin for treatment. While reclining, your practitioner will use our advanced device to create micro-injuries in your skin. This will help encourage new collagen and elastin for improved firmness, texture, and overall more youthful skin. Microneedling is comfortable for most patients, so numbing cream is not required. Because of the skill of our dermatology team, many of our patients tell us that they notice improvement in their skin’s texture after treatment.
After microneedling, you might be a little itchy, red or swollen in the area treated, but these side effects should subside within a few days. Most of our patients have little to no downtime and resume their daily agenda right after treatment. We might recommend a non-comedogenic moisturizer to hydrate your skin. Because everyone has unique skin, side effects and results may vary.
In the days after microneedling treatment, it’s important to moisturize and protect your skin from the sun. We recommend avoiding the sun as much as you can after your appointment and we might recommend a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Also, you should refrain from using makeup for at least. 72 hours. At Salonika Medspa, we offer leading broad-spectrum sunscreen products from Elta MD and Isdin.
frequently asked questions
At Salonika Medspa, our dermatology team uses microneedling to treat loose skin, scars, wrinkles, and much more. Microneedling can help generate new collagen and revitalize your complexion to leave behind radiant, smooth, and tightened skin.
With care and expertise at the forefront, our dermatology team at Salonika Medspa will be sure to help you achieve the best results with your microneedling treatment.
Depending on the area and your skincare goals, our dermatology team will tailor a plan for you to achieve your best results. We notice that a lot of our patients achieve amazing results after a single treatment.
Our patients usually notice an improvement in their skin’s appearance texture in the first few weeks after treatment.
After a microneedling treatment, some of our patients report some redness and swelling. These side effects usually go away in a few days, but leave behind a renewed, youthful complexion.
Some of our patients ask us about “derma rolling” their skin. Home rolling is much different than microneedling. For starters, microneedling can and should only be performed in a board-certified dermatologist’s office by professionals. Microneedling effectively creates micro-channels in the skin while home rollers barely scratch the surface.
At Salonika Medspa, we are result-oriented. If you’re interested in microneedling and you want results, you should strongly consider professional treatment.
We recommend that you keep your skin hydrated and avoid cleansers and makeup for at least 72 hours.
Dr. Ciatti recommends sunscreen to all of his dermatology patients regardless of the circumstance. After microdermabrasion, your renewed skin will be more sensitive to the sun.
We recommend Elta MD and Isdin sunscreens which can be found at our medspa as well as on our online store.
